This year, the Public Health Film festival chose to bring a film workshop to Rose Hill. The workshop led by Rose Hill News community journalist Aimee Winkfield brought over an under 9’s football team from Greater Leys to play football with kids from the local Saturday youth club in Rose Hill.

The premise of the workshop was to highlight how Rose Hill youth clubs use sports to promote health within the community through film. Kids from Rose Hill got the opportunity to film the sports session and test out the four cameras that were available. The kids all enjoyed the workshop, both the filming and sports side and positive feedback from the staff was received:

Youth Participation Officer Leonard Sackey said:

“I observed a good session as all young people looked like they were having fun even though the weather wasn’t great. I believe the young people that helped with filming/taking pictures learnt new skills from doing it and probably haven’t done something like this before.”
