RECIPE COMPETITION!

Mixing pot celebrates first anniversary with website launch and competition

Last October saw the City Council tour a giant mixing pot, built by local artist Diana Bell, around Oxford’s community centres, inviting residents to coming together, talk about food and share the recipes that are important to them.

The team behind the idea has now collated the recipes and stories on a website – www.mixingpot.org – with the help of local tech firm Made With Joy, and photos by Oxford’s most famous chip-shop photographer, Mr Kazem Hakimi.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Mixing Pot and the website’s official launch, the team is inviting members of the public to upload their recipe onto the website for a chance to win prizes including a basketful of international and local food products and a photo-shoot by Mr Hakimi.

Councillor Dee Sinclair, Executive Board Member for Culture and Communities, said: “Food is such a powerful way of bringing people together. We want to tell the story of the people of Oxford through the food they love.

“We hope this will give everyone the chance to discover Oxford’s diverse and multi-cultural communities through the food that’s important to them.”

Each recipe submitted, will count as one entry, more entries meaning more chances to win. The competition will run from Monday 16 October to Sunday 12 November. Terms and conditions can be requested via email to internationallinks@oxford.gov.uk.
