Oxford Miniature Grid Games Society
By Graham West
We’re a new adult only group starting up on Saturday 4th March at Rose Hill Community Centre.
We aim to discuss one historical battle per meet up using paper handouts and having a 3D board built using modelling scenery, including miniatures to re-enact the battles.
Our first meet-up is going to discuss the battle of Agincourt 1415, one of the decisive battles of the Hundred Years War between England and France
How the game will run: To re-enact the battle we will split the group into two teams – each team we hope will be comprised of four persons. If you imagine your side of the battlefield split into 3, this allows for a left, centre and right wing commander as well as having an overall commander.
We will use a card driven system to play the game – the overall commander chooses a card from his hand and passes it to one of his generals to carry out the orders. Battles between troops are resolved by dice. The set-up of the troops in composition tries to reflect historical accuracy – but in playing the game there are no guarantees – history could be rewritten…
Confirmation of attendance is required using the pre-booking system meetup.com. We can be found at the following address: https://www.meetup.com/Oxford-Miniature-Grid-Games-Society/
We hope to see you there!
